Tyler Baldor

Research Interests:

Urban sociology, sexualities, gender, social inequality, social interaction

Tyler is a fourth-year whose research lies at the intersection of urban sociology, gender and sexuality, and social inequality. He conducted ethnographic fieldwork of gay nightclubs with increasingly mixed-orientation crowds in Philadelphia's Gayborhood for his master's thesis and is continuing fieldwork in the neighborhood. With a longstanding interest in how and with whom individuals form their personal networks, he has also investigated patterns of social isolation among immigrant youth in Catalonia, Spain using quantitative methods. He received his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Penn in sociology with a concentration in quantitative methods and a minor in creative writing.
