SOCI110 - THE RICH AND THE POOR

Who is rich? Who is poor? This course examines how wealth and income are distributed in the United States, and how its distribution affects indivduals, groups, institutions, and society. We will gain a fuller understanding of what social class is and discuss how it affects all aspects of life, including: quality of schooling, access to employment, child rearing, and even tastes, preferences, and identity. In addition to two midterms and a final exam, students will be responsible for completing several assignments and turning in a short research paper.
