Professor Emeritus Richard D. Lambert, who earned his Ph.D in Sociology at Penn in 1951, just had his dissertation, Hindu-Muslim Riots published by Oxford University Press. It will be available for purchase in the U.S February 2014.
The now 90-year old scholar served in many roles at Penn, including Chair of the South Asia Regional Studies Department and Director of the Office of International Programs. Regarding this unique accomplishment, Lambert says, "It was a suprise to me, but very satisfying that at the age of 90, there [is] still some interest in the academic work I completed so long ago."
