PhD student Haley Pilgrim has received the Paul Spickard Graduate Student Paper Award for Critical Mixed Race Studies. Her paper "But I Just Look So White:' The Identity Choices and Racialized Emotional Work of Second-Generation Black-White Multiracials" was chosen by a jury of senior scholars in a variety of disciplines from across the world. She presented findings from this paper at the 2018 Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference Resisting, Reclaiming, and Reimagining.
