At the 2019 ASA Annual Meeting in New York City, Penn Sociology had many award recipients. Congratulations are also in order to our faculty and students whose research was recognized by the various sections of the American Sociological Association at this year’s annual meeting.
Jason Schnittker received the Best Publication Award from the Section on the Sociology of Mental Health for his book: Jason Schnittker, The Diagnostic System: Why the Classification of Psychiatric Disorders is Necessary, Difficult, and Never Settled. Columbia University Press. 2017.
Benjamin Shestakofsky received The W. Richard Scott Award for Distinguished Scholarship from the Section on Organizations, Occupations and Work for his article: Benjamin Shestakofsky, “Working Algorithms: Software Automation and the Future of Work,” Work and Occupations 44(4): 376–423. 2017.
Peter Harvey (Ph.D. Candidate) received Graduate Student Paper Award from the Section on Children and Youth for his paper: Peter Harvey, Not So Easy: Lessons in Body Management in an Elite Elementary School.
Lindsay Glassman (Ph.D., 2019) won the Student Paper Award from the Section on Sociology of Religion: Lindsay Glassman, University of Pennsylvania. In the Lord's Hands: Divine Healing and Embodiment in a Fundamentalist Christian Church.
