Ph.D. graduate Ran Liu ('19) to join University of Wisconsin-Madison as Assistant Professor in Educational Policy Studies

Sociology Ph.D. graduate Ran Liu ('19) will join the Education School at University of Wisconsin-Madison as Assistant Professor in Educational Policy Studies in Spring 2020.

She has also recently published two articles:

- A paper in Social Forces titled, "Do Family Privileges Bring Gender Equality? Instrumentalism and (De) Stereotyping of STEM Career Aspiration among Chinese Adolescents". This paper identifies mechanisms that link family privilege to gender differences in adolescents' STEM aspirations.

- A coauthored paper with Andrea Alvarado-Urbina and Emily Hannum in American Educational Research Journal titled, "Differences at the Extremes? Gender, National Contexts, and Math Performance in Latin America". This paper investigates determinants of gender disparities in math across the performance distribution in Latin American countries.
