Irma T. Elo, Samuel Preston, and alumnus Andrew Stokes along with collaborators Jacob Bor, Dielle J. Lundberg, and Katherine Hempstead have published a new study with PLOS Medicine: COVID-19 and excess mortality in the United States: A county-level analysis. Boston University's School of Public Health has highlighted the importance of this new, first-of-its-kind study which analyzes that COVID-19 mortality rates may be underestimated by 20 percent.
