Daniel Cohen has served as an important model of what publicly engaged sociology can look like
Because he is interested in both rigorous research and action, Daniel has been a role model for me. He also understood, better than anyone else, where I was coming from, and what my Ph.D. goals were.
As a recent Ph.D. himself, he understood the challenges of the job market and offered realistic and usable advice for every stage of the program. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and always offered readings, resources, and other people who could help shed light on research problems I was encountering.
