"Prison, Foster Care, and the Systemic Punishment of Black Mothers"
Feb 5, 2014 at - | B-3, Meyerson Hall, 210 South 34th Street

Dorothy E. Roberts, George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology, Raymond Pace and Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander Professor of Civil Rights, and Professor of Africana Studies, will explore how the U. S. prison and foster care systems work together to punish black mothers. The intersection of these systems is only one example of over-policing that overlap and converge in the lives of poor women of color.
