Perry World House Workshop: Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Global Challenges of Urbanization and Migration

Penn Sociology professors Michel Guillot, Emily Hannum, and Janice Madden, along with PhD candidate Natalie Young will participate in the following workshop:

This half day workshop is convened by Perry World House, Penn's new hub for global engagement and international policy research. It aims to identify and explore some of the most pressing questions in the space of urbanization and migration by showcasing the work of Penn faculty; the panels will be organized so as to highlight different methodological and disciplinary approaches to this research. The workshop will also feature external participants, including Jaya Ramji-Nogales, I. Herman Stern Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Institute for International Law and Public Policy at Temple University School of Law, and Ananya Roy, Professor and Meyer and Renee Luskin Chair in Inequality and Democracy and Director of the Institute on Inequality and Democracy at UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, who will present and provide feedback. The workshop will help inform the work of the Global Innovation Institute, the research component of Perry World House, which will bring rigorous interdisciplinary research to bear on pressing global policy challenges.
