Workshop
Stuck in Tijuana: the Caravan at the closed gate of the US
Feb 15, 2019 at - | 169 McNeil Building

This presentation aims to describe what happened to thousands of participants from the Central American Caravan once they reached the US-Mexico border in Tijuana. Specifically, Montes will examine the challenges they are facing upon their arrival in Tijuana after the Trump administration announced it would deny the right to request asylum to anyone who failed to apply at one of the assigned entry ports. In this presentation, Montes will also discuss the Mexican government’s response in this regard and if under the current circumstances in Tijuana, we can talk about a humanitarian crisis at the US-border.
