Nearly a year after the winners of the President’s Innovation Prize (PIP) and President’s Engagement Prize (PEP) began their projects, Penn Today writers Brandon Baker, Greg Johnson, Louisa Shepard took a look at how the work of these eight intrepid alumni have evolved. One of the President’s Engagement Prize winners included Cosmic Writers, a nonprofit created by Rowana Miller, Sociology graduate of 2022, and Manoj Simha, Wharton Finance and Management graduate of 2022. Their nonprofit offers creative writing instruction to K-12 students, virtually and in person, while providing training and part-time jobs to Penn and other college students as instructors and in leadership roles.
