Event
This short workshop will present the basic concepts and applications of demographic decomposition, including essential and desirable properties that decompositions should have. Tim will differentiate between different families of decomposition, including analytic decomposition, generalized parametric decomposition, and symbolic decomposition. The session will consist of a short lecture and practical worked examples in R. He will share the code before the workshop so that people can follow along live.
About Tim Rife:
Tim Riffe is a Research Fellow at the Research Group in Social Determinants of Health and Demographic Change (OPIK) of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a Guest Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. His work focuses on indirect methods for measuring health disparities, on a measurement framework for demographic life-course based measures of health, and on decomposition approaches to characterize life course disparities in health and longevity.
