The University of Pennsylvania Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium on Social Change annual “Signature Program” highlights academic scholarship directed at improving the lives of people victimized by dominant cultural oppressions and as such the university’s MLK  Signature Program honors the life work and core mission (i.e. social justice) of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s keynote address will be delivered by one of our own George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology and the Raymond Pace and Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander Professor of Civil Rights Dorothy Roberts. Dorothy Roberts is an acclaimed scholar on race, gender and the law who joined the University of Pennsylvania as its 14 Penn Intefrates Knowledge Professor with joint appointment in the Department of Sociology and the Law School. Dr. Roberts will present from her new book “Fatal Invention: How Science, Politics, and Big Business re-create Race in the Twenty-first Century.
