Globalization and Contemporary Fertility Transitions

Arun Hendi is a graduate student in the University of Pennsylvania’s Demography Program and the winner of the 2014 Etienne Van De Walle Prize. 

Arun’s current research interests are in aging, mortality, health, formal demography, and demographic modeling. His recent research has focused on globalization,
contemporary fertility transitions, educational differentials in mortality, stratification in the accuracy of subjective survival forecasts, and the health of black children
in the U.S. He plans to write his dissertation on three topics using demographic modeling: spousal differences in mortality, the future of ethnic identity in the U.S.,
and the demography of political affiliation.
