Doron Shiffer-Sebba researches the intersection of family and wealth, focusing on intergenerational extended families. He uses ethnographic, as well as quantitative and computational methods. Research projects include homeownership patterns across the life course, intergenerational effects on income patterns, and the role of families in broad patterns of wealth. His dissertation focuses on the role of relationships between professionals and extended family members in intergenerational wealth transfers, using the case of family offices, which manage the finances of wealthy families.

Education

Before arriving at the University of Pennsylvania, Doron worked as an educator and counselor with children of migrant workers and refugees in Tel Aviv. He holds an M.A. in Global Thought, organized by Columbia's Committee on Global Thought, and a BA in political science and East Asian studies from Brown University.
