Asian America Across the Disciplines: Anthony Ocampo, Assist. Professor of Sociology at California State Polytechnic Univ., Pomona

"The Latinization of Filipino Ethnic Identity: How Immigration is Reshaping Racial Formation"
Oct 15, 2014 at - | Stiteler B26

In his talk, Professor Ocampo will explore the mass migration from Latin America and Asia that is dramatically changing racial landscape of our nation. He will examine how Filipino Americans, the largest Asian group in the state of California, negotiate their racial identity within an emerging Latino-Asian racial spectrum and how the racialization process is evolving as the United States moves beyond a black-white racial paradigm.
