Internet censorship in China is a matter of grave concern among both citizens and scholars.  Many studies have documented its multiple and sophisticated forms.  The two speakers on this panel bring fresh insights by asking new questions.  How does the censorship of an Internet novel end up "producing" it?  In what ways has Internet surveillance in China turned into a profitable business?  Thomas Chen and Bo Mai employ innovative methods to examine these questions and come up with surprising answers.
