Shaquilla Harrigan is a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation, "Young, Gifted, and African: How Kenyan Young People Navigate the Digital Economy" explores how Kenyan young people and the organizations that aim to upskill them define success in the fourth industrial revolution. My other two research pipelines investigate the distribution of decision-making power among international development workers and how organizational DEI paradigms impact on worker experiences.
Her research on the distribution of decision-making power among international development workers has been published in the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography. She has also written advice posts for ProFellow and the ASA Section on Race, Ethnicity, and Migration. For her research and teaching excellence, Shaquilla has received several awards, including being selected as one of the inaugural Penn Presidential Ph.D. Fellows.
